Quick ramblings from the author

Custom bikes and the lifestyle will never leave my blood. When they say biker for life I believe they meant it. The First time I was introduced to bikes was when i was about 3 years old, We lived in Brixham in Devon and my Aunt and Uncle visited from London on there Norton Navigator. I was aloud to sit on it and tweak the throttle. Well from that moment onwards I was hooked .

I had to wait about 12 years to get my first bike with an engine, An old Honda SS50 5 Speed. From that point there was no looking back and bikes have been a massive part of my life since.
If you have a story to tell or anything you want me to put up on this blog just give me a shout, As long it is about Bikes, Bikers and the lifestyle i will chuck it on here. Lets keep it free and see where it goes.

How to build a Wooden Headlight

Wooden Headlight build

Early 2009 and life was pretty quiet in the woodturning about a year after i started to learn to turn until one day i got a message from an aquaintance from a Biker forum i belong to.

"Steve do you think you will be able to make a wooden headlight to go on my dads old bike and sidecar outfit i am restoring as a tribute to him?"

Well being a biker myself and because i love working with wood and always fancied the idea of marrying wood and metal in some form i jumped at the chance.
Could we pull it off ?
There was only one way to find out..

After a few discusions and Richard coming down to Marston from Leicester with some headlamp parts i set to work firstly finding a piece of wood big enough and woth the right look, So off i trotted to my Aladins cave called the Bedford Saw and Tool Centre ( I have a link on my Page on the right).
I found this piece of pine sitting there that was perfect for the job.

Against EU Member States Introducing Mandatory High Visibility Clothing For Motorcyclists

Responsible department: Department for Transport
We the undersigned urge the British Government to put pressure on the European Commission to discipline any member state that imposes clothing standards on motorcycle riders. We view any such requirement as an expression of prejudice against motorcyclists and a barrier to the free movement of people within the EU. With regard to the current proposals on mandatory high visibility clothing being considered by some member states, we consider this to be ill advised and naïve. We challenge the speculation that high visibility clothing will reduce accidents involving motorcyclists. We question the right of motorists to hold driving licenses if they are incapable of seeing a rider and motorcycle unless clad in high visibility clothing. We challenge the logic that imposes unreasonable requirements on the victims of accidents in order to accommodate the failings of those who cause them
